Cohiba was founded and produced in 1966 in the then "secret" factory "El Laguito" and it was not until 1982 that it was made available to the world's cigar hunter. Until -82 the cigar was reserved for Castro, diplomats and other privileged individuals in the vicinity of Fidel. Cohiba is a Taino-Indian word meaning "tobacco" or "cigar". The cigars under the brand Cohiba are produced today in four different lines: Clasico, Siglo, Maduro and Behike all with tobacco from the most recognized farms in the Vuelta Abajo region of western Cuba. Cohiba is now considered to be Habana's most prestigious brand and has become a very popular cigar, perhaps because the inlay bake receives a third fermentation that many consider contributing to the brand's good "lena" taste and special character. Cohiba Behike 52 was chosen 2010 for the year's cigar of the newspaper Cigar Aficionado
