Caldwell Cigars are made using all-grade A tobaccos. There are very few brands that only use all-grade A tobaccos (Davidoff, Some Limited Fuentes and a few others). Grade A tobacco is considered to be the best in breed in terms of color, flavor and other physical characteristics. Many brands only use Grade A tobacco for their wrappers, as this is the only part of a cigar that is completely visible to the consumers. Solely using Grade A allows our cigars to be more uniform throughout the smoking experience (they burn better, draw better and perform better overall). These tobaccos are more costly, but using them allows for us to be more consistent.
We only use well-aged tobaccos in our cigars. Tobaccos that have been aged longer have more uniformity in taste and blend better. They allow for a more balanced flavor and more refined taste. They also age better. Our youngest tobacco is 5 years old.
All of the Caldwell line is blended to size. This means that we actually took the time to blend each shape as a unique cigar. They all have the same components in the same quantities, but we change the primings of the leaves in each line to adjust the flavors to be more specific.
