About Kind Cigars

Kind Cigars was founded by me, Martin “CCR” Nelson, in the autumn of 2011. After a few months of intensive work building the website, network, product range, and structure, we launched our webshop on Monday, April 2, 2012.

I have always had a strong passion for the finer things in life – good food, carefully selected beverages, high-quality chocolate, expertly roasted coffee, and an occasional pipe. But it is no secret that cigars are what lie closest to my heart.

My interest in the finer things in life, as well as the ability to add a touch of luxury to otherwise ordinary moments, has followed me throughout my life and has given me both knowledge and experience in areas relevant to Kind Cigars. And where my own knowledge falls short, I am fortunate to rely on a strong network of colleagues, enthusiasts, and professionals with deep expertise in their respective fields.

My journey with cigars began in my late teens, when I tried European cigars from countries such as the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. Back then, it was perhaps not the taste that attracted me the most, but rather the feeling—something exotic to hold in hand together with friends.

Cigarettes and snus have never really been my thing, apart from the periods I worked in the restaurant industry in the late ’90s, where a cigarette was often the only acceptable excuse to take a break.

A defining moment came in April 1998, on my 20th birthday. That was when I first tried a genuine Cuban cigar—an experience that would change everything. I don’t remember exactly which cigar it was, but I remember the feeling, that feeling: I stepped away to a quiet corner at my own party, sat down, smiled… puffed… and smiled some more—it was a revelation!

Since then, cigars have been a natural part of my life and personality. They have been a source of relaxation, joy, companionship, and reflection—but above all, a moment to pause and simply be.

Being able today to work with my greatest passion, together with my family, and to have the opportunity to share the good life with our customers is something I value immensely. Kind Cigars is not just a company—it is a movement, a genuine interest, and a lifestyle.

Our ambition is to inspire more people to discover the world of cigars and to share the passion and knowledge that we ourselves are so deeply committed to. To understand the sense of community it brings.

I see myself first and foremost as a cigar enthusiast—and only secondly as a cigar merchant. This mindset permeates everything we do at Kind Cigars.

Over the years, the business has grown and today includes, among other things, cigar subscriptions, import and distribution of carefully selected brands, training, and e-commerce. Today, we are three people working full-time with Kind Cigars—myself, Marie-Louise, and David. In addition, we have the pleasure of working with Magnus, Axel, August, and Gunilla as extra resources.
